Hiya Pal!

We thoroughly enjoyed Mickeys Backyard BBQ although I know it's not to everyone's taste. As the name suggests it's a BBQ style character meal and show. It's very outdoorsy and it's your typical all you can eat BBQ food.

It's located at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. If you are using the Disney buses to travel there I definitely recommend setting of a bit early as you have to take 2 buses to get there. We travelled from Magic Kingdom to Fort Wilderness and then had to take the Ford Wilderness internal bus to the BBQ. This was easy enough to do and the buses are regular but it just adds a little bit more time onto your journey.

When we arrived we were greeted by CM's who took us to where we would all be seated. The BBQ is in a very large open air barn with picnic type benches for seating. The tables are decorated with red and white checked table cloths and there are condiments provided in the middle. There is a large stage area and dance floor.

The toilet blocks are a little walk away. Unfortunately they don't allows prams (strollers) into the barn and so you are expected to leave them outside (rain covers required just incase). This was a problem for us as Matthew wasn't sitting up unaided at the time and so we unable to use the highchairs provided as they were quite wide.

Luckily we were able to sit at one of the outer tables and pull our pram up beside our table for Matthew to sit in but it meant we didn't have a great view of the stage show and if the weather had turned bad we probably would have gotten a bit wet ☹

There was a section off from the seating area where the food was kept. It's a self serve eat all you can meal with unlimited drinks and ice creams. There was both alcoholic drinks and soft drinks available. The food was kept in heated trays and was refilled regularly whilst we were there.

The entertainment was fantastic. It was definitely the selling point for this. There was a country band playing and Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Chip & Dale were there to dance and wander around and meet the guests. All whilst wearing their awesome country outfits 😍. Regularly the characters would move off to the sides for photos (Minnie and Mickey to one side and Goofy and Chip & Dale to the other) and the band would play music and games with the kids on the dance floor. There was always something going on.

Once the night was finished it was back on the bus straight to Magic Kingdom.

I will definitely do this again just for the character interactions alone if nothing else.

Thank you for joining me and my gorgeous little family on our travels to find fairy dust. Please remember this is new for me so please be kind. If there is something you think I could do better I am always happy for advice.
